Fall 2023.
Inspired by the award-winning album “A Seat at the Table” by Solange Knowles, this exhibition emphasizes themes of black joy, liberation, and pride. Art history predominantly focuses on the pains of being black, but through this show and further exploration, we can repaint how the black experience is represented throughout art. Like black artists throughout history, black students are underrepresented at CU Boulder, but by shining light on these patterns of adversity, we can make a change. Through this work, we offer black artists a seat at the table.
Featuring the work of Benjamin “Zoid” Burney, Shea Carey, Roswell Coon, Quincy Malone, and Alessia Redwine
